I met a friend of mine this week who asked what had happened to my Blog. Apparently he had subscribed, which is nice, but I obviously had failed to deliver the goods! Sorry! So I thought I should make an appearance and let you know a little about what is happening in my world.
The main event is actually a drama which runs like a juicy episode of City Homocide . Unfortunately the full story cannot be revealed as yet, due to negotiations over the movie rights with Hollywood. Ok, that may be a slight exaggeration - but the question remains: Which actor should I cast as myself?
Following a solid 4 weeks of non stop Police enquiry and drama; I bid farewell to my only child as she embarked on her 5 week tour of China.
All very exciting for her but a rather sobering experience for me, as I found myself without the full time mothering role I have held for the past 15 years.
Negotiating feelings of loneliness and freedom has been a personal challenge. I have probably not used my time as productively as I should have. I planned to spend some time with a few people who usually are available when I am not, however those plans did not really work out.
What I have found out over this period is that I really should swim more. The pool I swim at is an outdoor heated pool, open year round. Winter of course is tricky, but I need to make a committment to getting in that water at least 3 times a week.
My swimming is not time trials or kilometres of laps and drills.
It is 1500m of meditation in motion.
Swimming allows my mind to clear and focus on being in the 'now'. A practice which is often recommended for revitalising the body and clarity of mind.
Another benefit is a connection with my local community, seeing familiar faces and being welcomed warmly (despite the fog).
So wish me luck with setting my early morning alarm and following through on my morning swim. I'm sure that the plunge will prove rewarding despite the chill in the air.
... and feel free to give me a prod if you think I'm slacking off!
Good luck and welcome back to the blogging! I'm there on twitter to give you a prod whenever you need it @SmilingPamela
